Supporting Major Tugboat Retrofit in Seattle

Phoenix Labor Group is pleased to participate in a significant tugboat renovation currently in progress at Northlake Shipyard on Lake Union in Seattle, Washington. Our Marine Dockside Repair team is contributing skilled labor, specialized equipment, and consumables for this critical project.

A dedicated crew of 13 professionals, including 9 first-class shipfitters and 4 ABS-certified welders, are working in two shifts of 10 hours each, six days per week. The project is anticipated to last approximately two months.

Our responsibilities include removing the tug’s two Voith Schneider propulsion systems and installing new structural foundations to support the replacement with two Berg Z-Drive units. All installations adhere strictly to welding protocols to ensure precise alignment tolerances. In addition to the primary propulsion upgrade, our team is carrying out substantial structural modifications to prepare the vessel for renewed operations.

In supplying both manpower and all necessary equipment and consumables, Phoenix Labor Group demonstrates its commitment to providing comprehensive labor solutions.
